There are a number of factors that affect how frequently you need to paint the exterior of a home. Different types of paint have varying degrees of longevity. Dark colors absorb more heat and tend to need more frequent repainting, and UV light is the main factor that breaks down paint. Parts of the house that are more exposed to sunlight will fade more quickly. Your home’s exterior finish plays a role in the frequency of house painting. Wood siding will need to be painted approximately every four years. Aluminum siding may last five years between paint jobs. If you’re weighing whether it’s time to have the outside of your home painted, ask a painting contractor for their advice and recommendations before you get started. House Painting Service
Living in Phoenix, one of the most arid cities in the country, your exterior paint is subject to harsh sunlight, monsoons and blowing dust and debris. Overtime, these factors fade and tarnish paint and result in discoloration, chipping, and chalking. If painting is put off too long it will result in stucco coming off your home, wood rot, excess cracking, and a host of many other paint failures. It’s least expensive to paint your home before any major issues arise, typically before the 8 year mark (since your last paint job). Denver House Painting Service
In July of this year a ***** window screen was damaged and disposed while Prism House was painting our home. The owner agreed to replace the screen but they first tried making it themselves. Unfortunately however, this screen is so ill fitting and poorly made that it won't even stay in place without duck tape. The owner was made aware of the situation and agreed to order an exact replacement from *****. After no follow through by Prism House, I worked with ***** and then forwarded the order forms/information to them in earlier September. At this time, the owner said he would order the screen. No screen has been ordered and Prism House remains unresponsive. The second issue that I am looking to resolve is one of moisture bubbles that appeared on our side door - as soon as the exterior painting was considered complete. I have reached out the Prism House Painting repeatedly via phone, email and text message regarding both of these issues.…Read More
If it’s time to give your home a fresh coat of paint, it’s important to hire a good house painter to do the job right. You’ll want a house painter who has experience painting the exteriors of other homes similar to yours. Don’t be afraid to ask for photos of recent projects and check references. Make sure you and the painter agree on your expectations for the project. Make sure any potential painter knows how many coats of paint you require, if you want primer, and that you want the prep done work properly — be prepared to pay extra if necessary. Ask to see a copy of the painter’s liability insurance and workers compensation coverage, too, and check their reputation with the Better Business Bureau.

Homeowners may be tempted to try to save money by painting their home’s exterior themselves. Before rushing into a DIY house painting project, it’s wise to assess the situation realistically. First of all, decide whether you have the experience and necessary tools to take on an exterior house painting job. Factor in how much time the project will take given your schedule. Consider how big your home is, including how tall it stands. Assess whether it will be easy to rest ladders on the land surrounding your house. Be sure you are set to go through every step of the house painting job, from prepping the home’s exterior to balancing on ladders to apply the paint.

The price to paint an interior versus an exterior depends on a few factors. For painting an exterior, you will pay about $2,600. This is because you have to account for the siding, making sure the weather doesn't affect the job and dealing with weather conditions. On the other hand, the price to paint a home interior is around $1,700 -- less to worry about other than keeping the flooring and furniture paint-free. If you want to do both the interior and exterior, talk to the painters about any deals or their opinion on timeline and how it affects your budget.
If you’re considering adding fresh paint to the exterior of your home or garage, don’t worry about vinyl siding: it can be painted! Be sure to start with clean, dry siding (this may require pressure washing and good weather). Or, you can wash the siding with soap and water instead. But the main thing is to start with a clean, dry surface so the paint won’t peel. Be sure to select a color for the paint that’s not darker than the existing vinyl color: a darker shade will allow the siding to heat up more than it was designed to withstand. House Painting Service
